Happy Valentines!

Post by Beer-lord »

I don't celebrate this made up day but don't begrudge those who do. But my wife did get me a bomber of Arrogant Bastard.
Think she's telling me something?

Much of our weekend has been cancelled due to snow. The Valentine Dinner at the Club (darling) tonight, postponed. Lasagna dinner at Mom's tomorrow, cancelled.
We did already had flowers, cards, lingerie, love, jewelry, and I'm awaiting another new keg. We still plan to go out, and this is the best Valentine of my life.

You're making me look bad, john.

All we've done is go out for a few pints yesterday afternoon at the pub and may open the Cool Springs Brewery Early Riser Coffee Stout tonite after dinner, and a Valentine's card and that's it.

But when you've been married as long as I have (33 years in May) then pretty much every day's a Valentine (She didn't make me write that) :o

I sure do love her.
Things men have made with wakened hands, and put soft life into
Are awake through years with transferred touch and go on glowing
For long years.
And for this reason some old things are lovely
Warm still with the life of forgotten men who made them.

LOML gifted me, among other things, a gin kit, with all the lovely items necessary to make a compound gin. We both enjoy a variety of infused spirits, so this will be a wonderful gift for the both of us. I am roasting a whole duck for dinner, accompanied by roasted carrots, asparagus, and scratch-made "steakhouse" rolls. Dessert shall be an espresso shortbread. I love my sweetie!

I think that's one of the nicest things I've ever heard. When we're married 33 years, I'll be over 80. (She'll still be 39)
But I just got off the phone with my dear friend Bill. He's 90 today. He says he's just reached 45 twice. He was in the navy in WWII, he has five fine children, five grandchildren, and a great attitude. Happy Birthday Bill!

Send my regards to Bill. And beside the Happy Birthday wish, thank him for his service. That generation was the greatest generation in this country's history, in my opinion. There's not many of them left either. Cherish the time left.

I wonder if Jeff got a new kilt or maybe something new to put under it. :hammer:

We've got high winds and blowing snow and it's also snowing here, not that we've got more than a few inches. However, LOML and I really don't celebrate it nor much else, 34 years, 1 month, 16 days but who's counting. If you count when we started dating add another 2 years and 2 months.

I told her I'll let her have her way with me. Her response was, "so why is this night different from all other nights?". I told her that was a different holiday that we don't celebrate...
I have over 9,000 posts on "another forum", which means absolutely nothing. Mr. Beer January 2014 Brewer of the Month with all the pomp and circumstance that comes with it...

17+ years and working together doesn't leave much time to sneak off to buy things for each other, so I put 2 racks of Baby Backs int the oven @ 225 for 5 hours ( too cold n snowy to deal with the smoker ) couple baked potatoes, and NY Strip steaks and cooked her dinner tonite!

And the fun continues. The club party was cancelled, but Jane suggested happy hour at Spyros, local martini bar and restaurant. We ended up staying for dinner, it was great fun. Saw some friends there. Even a guy that competed with Jane for her job (she won). Last time we saw him, he bought us a round. Tonight we bought one for him and his wife. I had a couple of local IPAs (Port Jeff Party Boat). Then home for more snuggling. We still think it's our best Valentine ever.
