It's not major journalism but a quickie by the founder of our great hobby. I definitely remember reading Charlie's first book in the late 70's while in college. I still have it somewhere and I think he signed it for me if I'm not mistaken.
We might not be on the same page for likes of beer but he's got my respect.

I remember meeting him at the AHA Convention in Philadelphia. I turned around and there he was! He fist-bumped me, and I told him it must be very gratifying to see how homebrewing has taken off. He said, "It's more than gratifying, it's ... This is incredible!"

That's my brush with homebrew fame, I guess.

1) When I was in college Ibwas just happy to be able to affors some Keystone Light. I certainly didn't have the patience to think about home brewing.

2) By the late 70's I was still in elementary school

Late 70s I was in middle school... just figuring out that girls were not disgusting... no beer yet. Some years later beer was Little Kings, and drinking it often involved shooting bottle rockets, roman candles, or potato cannons at each other. Those were the days LOL.
