Vacation is Over!

Post by D_Rabbit »

The month of February has been quite the crazy one here. I had training in Ohio for work at the begining of the month for a few days and once I got home we were getting ready for our vacation. Finally back home and work has died down. With all this cold weather in VA there has been a rash of frozen pipe breaks in the houses to keep us busy. Most poeple don't weather proof their lines because it doesn't get below freezing much here.

Anyways, vacation was interesting. Went to FL where for the for first 3 days it didn't get above 50 degrees! I was not ready for that. We packed for FLORIDA!! So it was a bit chilly those first few days. Celebrated my wifes birthday but running in our first half marathon. I can let you know, I have a new found respect for people of all shapes and sizes. There were some people running this thing that I would never had guessed in a million years would or should be running 13.1 miles! At one point some guy with a cane picked up his cane and ran past us to stay ahead of the bus of shame picking him up. It was impressive.... and a bit disappointing because he actually ran past us! It was a blast though and I am finally starting to feel good again soreness wise since it has been 5 days since doing it.

Here is a picture of us with our medals. At the bottom you can see the bags of ice wrapped around my knees. Never thought something could feel as good as that was!

Congratulations on completing the half marathon. I have run 15 or so, and it does amaze me at the variety of people running. My most humbling moment was when a young woman pushing a baby in a runnign stroller passed me going up a hill. Up to that point I thought I was doing well.

Rabbitman, glad you guys had a good/interesting vacation, everyone needs them once and a while. I couldn't even want to think of running 13 miles, it makes my legs cramp just thinking of it. Quite the color combination you are wearing. Well happy you had a good vacation, but going back to work sucks after. :)

Very nice accomplishment - congrats to you and the Mrs.
But I gotta say it:
Running 13 miles straight? That ain't what I would call a vacation!!!!

Congrats on the half. Keep it up if you can - I love running. I do tris as well. The same goes for tris, an amazing variety of people do them, it's not all just skinny people like me, and except for some super competitive types, most of the tri community thinks its awesome and is very supportive.

Congrats. It has to feel good to accomplish something major like that.
