Hi Peter! Welcome to a great pastime, and the best forum!
You can get the discount by going to Members Only Deals in the Trading Post section. There are all different levels of brewing here, and pretty much all of us started with basic kits like BrewDemon. I use their conical still, along with other fermenters. Please keep us posted on your progress, and don't be shy if you have questions.

thank you, I have the pilsner and the oatmeal, going to try one, not sure which one first. Any suggestions on variations, or should I stick to the basics the first few times
I really want to make a bock or dopplebock

anyone ever mix cans of the brewdemon mix? like one of the pils and one of the oatmeal so to speak, or would that be a horrible idea?
and do you have to use plain white sugar when carbonating?
new to this so I apologize if these are dumb questions

I think it's a good idea to follow the directions the first few times. We all enjoy experimenting, but it helps to have a baseline for comparison. Mixing two HME (Hopped Malt Extract) can work. Another idea would be to build up an HME by adding dry or liquid extract (DME or LME) and some hops. But I recommend that you start simply following directions with the mixes you have. After that you can shop for other mixes, or buy extract, grains, and hops and make other recipes, still using your BrewDemon Conical to ferment.
You can carbonate with cane sugar or corn sugar. If you decide to try a different one (brown sugar? honey?) you'll find that they want different amounts. You might try carbing one or two bottles that way, and comparing them to the others.

Like John said, first few batches straight up so you get a base line for the process and what the beer is like. Experiment after that till your hearts content. Just be sure to keep notes on every batch, that way you will be able to replicate it if it's the best beer ever. One of our own
The Screwy Brewer has good brewing tool calculators for priming and other things.
Please don't be afraid to ask a question just you think it might be silly. This is a great group of people that check egos at the door. They have been answering my questions for years. Everyone here hasn't forgotten they were a new brewer at one time and had the same questions.
So come in, brew, learn, enjoy, share and help us keep paying it forward.
