Beer-lord history

Paul's Beer House.pdf
(2.57 MiB) Downloaded 158 times
I think it was 1979 or 1980 when I first dabbled in homebrewing. Slowly, very slowly. But by 1981 and 1982 I was brewing regularly with many, many failures and very, very few beers I could feel good about. Since I was part owner in the same business I fully own now, I sneakily used it's business license so I could buy some things wholesale. I called it "Paul's Beer House". Original huh?
I shipped to both my business and my home depending on what I bought.
Here's some invoices from 1983 with some of what I bought. It's a 3 page pdf file and I promise its not a virus. I think this was when I went into all grain and shortly before I got married and went into a complete stoppage in 1984 or 1985 only to brew a bit again in the 90's with a Mr. Beer kit that sucked.
Wow, that was so long ago, I had hair.

Not sure what the spicket was but maybe a spigot???
I have a huge folder of all the invoices and some catalogs from companies I don't think are around anymore like Li'l Ole Winemakers & Beermakers' Supply and The Winery of Overton Square, Duane Imports and Bierhaus International.
Take a look at this from 1983.

Some are still pretty bad but even some of my worst now are better than my best then. I think I can only remember 4 or 5 beers that stood out as very, very good though others like most of them. I was hard on myself even then.

It was a 'fly by your pants' time, that's for sure. I feel dumb now but compared to then, I feel like a pro.

Man, if we knew then what we know now......(and I'm not just talking about beer).

It's cool that you have some of your brewing history to reflect upon.

You're old??
"Filled with mingled cream and amber
I will drain that glass again.
Such hilarious visions clamber
Through the chambers of my brain

Come to life and fade away;
Who cares how time advances?
I am drinking ale today."
