Some of you may remember Emma Christensen, she is the author of the soon to be released Brew Better Beer book that a few of us have contributed recipe help to. She along with the website http://www.thekitchn.com is holding Beer School over a 4 week period. This might be worth a look.
Hi, Brew Better Beer recipe testers!

Just wanted to let you know about a cool program I'm running next month on The Kitchn in conjunction with the release of Brew Better Beer -- The Kitchn's Beer School! This is going to be a month+ program of 20 lessons and 7 assignments to learn how to brew an all-grain 1-gallon batch of beer. It's geared toward total newbies, but there should be plenty of fun things for more experienced brewers, too.

Here's the sign-up page!

It would be very fun to have you guys brewing along with the school! I'd also really appreciate it if you felt like sharing the news about this with your friends, fellow brewers, or beer forums!

Wooo! Thanks, everyone!

This sounds interesting. I see that the course is based around a 1 gallon batch and since my daughter had bought me a 1 gallon kit awhile ago, I'll probably have to try this. I wonder how hard this is and has anyone done something like this before?
Thanks, Tony

What kind of brewing have you done to this point? If you've done any kind of steeping or mashing, it should be a piece of cake. If you've only done Mr.B/BrewDemon/etc. extracts, there will be a learning curve, but I'd wager that the course will walk you through it quite gently.

Mr. Beer and Brew Demon extracts with the UME additions are all I've done, and I'm pretty happy with how they've turned out so far. So yea, I'm sure it'll be a learning curve/hill but hopefully not too hard. ;-)
Thanks, Tony

Nope, not too hard at all. Soon you'll be peddling down hill as fast as possible not picking up any speed at all. That is where all the new toys come in to play to help increase your peddling speed.

You're gonna love it. To me, brewing with grains is like making soup. If you can make soup, you can make beer. If you can make good soup, you can make good beer. If you can make great soup, you can make great beer.
