Bombs Away!

Just sitting back taking it easy, sipping on some homebrew, just dry hopped My quicky 30 minute IPA with a half oz of Zythos, watching recorded episode of Brewdogs and KABOOM from the taproom! First thing I thought blew the top off the fermenter from nucleation after the hop addition. Well the supplies closet I had a two of Brown Ales I was going to enter in a local comp were sitting in there, WERE. Had my first bottle bomb, these were bottled still when I was using the bottling wand and forgetting that the other kegs were backfeeding to the keg I was bottling from. Now I see where the ones I sent to another comp were said to be overcarbonated. I popped the top on the one that didnt blow, let it foam out some and recapped. Now I really need to look close at some of my other bottled beers, or just start drinking them soon.

Sorry for your loss.
I had to dispose of my bottled Rye PA recently, infected. The keg was great, the bottles gushers. Sanitation error.

Sooner or later, it happens to everyone. It's a scary sound. My first one was shortly after I got married and my beer was under my bed. Thought it was gunfilre in the street outside. My wife was not happy. For better or for worse.
I still want to know why you "pooped the top" on your beer. Disgusting. :jumpy:

I wasn't home when my first and only bottle bomb went off. I discovered it later, when I opened the beer closet to get something. I started cleaning it up, and The Bhoy-o came in and asked what happened. I explained it, and he said, "Oh, that's what that sound was! I thought something fell and broke, and I couldn't figure out what it was."

And he had been in the other room, and the bottle was in a closed closet.

So far no bombs, but did have a recent gusher batch of an Irish Red. Tastes fine, but I lose at least a third of each bottle to foam.
