Hi all I just released a new brewing tool named ezBIAB Calculator© and was hoping to get feedback from other BIAB brewers. I used it myself to calculate my volumes last Saturday before I brewed and it did help me. I was able to accurately hit all of my targeted volumes and I had a really good brewday. I'm way too close to my latest creation to provide an unbiased opinion, so I'm trying to find out how other brewers would rate it.

You can access ezBIAB Calculator© at... http://www.thescrewybrewer.com/2015/04/ezbiab-calculator.html

Sounds great Vince. I just brewed, my next batch might be a kit I have on hand. I do want to try this calculator, but it may be six or eight weeks.

I'll use it next brew and see how it goes. My standby is no longer available (copycalc.com) so what I've been using is close to Beersmith.
From the numbers I just put in, it's very close to what I've been using but it seems to be a tad bit higher with the amount of water needed. But, it is much closer than 2 other free tools I've used so this one looks pretty good to me.
I've bookmarked it for future use.
Thanks!

Hi Screwy,

I just found this and don't mind giving it a go if you still need feedback. Cool project!

@MrBandGuy I can always use more feedback, thank you for offering. Would you mind posting your results here once you've had a chance to put it through it's paces.

The numbers below are what I typically plug in for my brewing system....
  1. Maximum Kettle Volume = 14 Gallons
  • Packaged Beer Volume = 10 Gallons
  • Weight of Grains = 23 Pounds
  • Weight of Hops = 15 Ounces
  • Brew Kettle Trub Loss = .75 Gallons
  • Fermentor Trub Loss = .50 Gallons
  • Length Of Boil = 60 Minutes
  • Boil Off Per Hour = 1.25 Gallons
...and I get the following results.

ezBIAB Calculator © The Screwy Brewer 2015

Kettle Mash Wort Loss
Boil Evaporation = 1.25
Cold Break/Trub = 0.75
Hop Absorption = 0.5475
Grain Absorption = 2.875

Fermentor Wort Loss
Yeast/Trub/Break = 0.5

Kettle Mash Volume
Kettle Volume = 14
Mash Volume = 17.762
**Imbalance = -3.762 <--- This volume won't fit in my kettle
Mash Thickness = 2.115

Kettle Boil Volume
Preboil Volume = 12.5
Postboil Volume = 11.250

Miscellaneous
Brewing Water = 15.9225
Fermentor Wort = 10.500
Packaged Beer = 10

**A negative value indicates the kettle is undersized.
