Finally! Second (well, third if you count the 5 minute cider) brewday of the year. I haven't brewed an IPA in ages (I still have some of the conan IPA left, and it's still mighty tasty), so here we go.
Refreshment:
Nashville Pre-Prohibition Amber Ale... sacrificing the #properGlassware for #unbreakableOnTheConcretePlasticware
Listening pleasure:
Usually I brew to Colin Hay, but decided to mix it up with the
Crowded House/Split Enz/Neil Finn/Finn Brothers playlist... pure goodness...
Temps almost ready to start the mash. Hope I remember how to do this...

All snug in the fermenting fridge. Missed the OG by 0.03. I can definitely live with that. First go with the Johnson Control unit. I have it set at 64 degrees, so we'll see how it does. Must remember to dry hop later...
The only real disadvantage I see to this new fermenter is the footprint. I can fit two Better Bottles of the same size in this fridge, but only one of these. But otherwise I'm really liking it.

Looks good. Since it's the first time with the Johnsonn, keep an eye on it. It might take a little adjusting to get it right where you want it. What do you have the difference up/down from the set point programmed to?

Yeah, definitely keeping an eye on it. This is an A19 single dial non-digital version. I only see one adjustment point on this unit, and that's the temp I want to set it at. I currently have it set at 64, and the temp on a thermometer in the fridge is just around 60, so we'll see in a bit if I need some adjustment.

Oh. I have the digital one that allows you to set the difference up/down any number of degrees. Either way, they sure do help.

Thought I left plenty enough head space in this new fermenter (see pic above), but had to pull a goopy airlock this morning and switch to a blowoff. This West Coast dry yeast is rockin' it, even at 55-60 degree temps... wow...

I like that hop combination. I have never tried warrior hops but tried an IPA from a local brewery that used them. I think I will use those in my next IPA.
