I moved last year and the new place I get my Co2 from only exchanges bottles where my old supplier would refill the one I brought in. The first thing I told them both was that I used the Co2 for carbonating and serving my beer not for welding. I was assured by both that they have other customers who use their Co2 too. It's a shame to think their refill caused you to lose all that beer, if it were me I'd be sure to let them know.

I hope this nightmare was finally resolved for you.

My two choices are:
1) Exchanging tanks on-site at MoreBeer
2) Getting tanks refilled at a place called Carbonic Services which services soda dispensers, etc.

Luckily I've never had trouble with either.
