The Hat to the rescue!

Post by FedoraDave »

Some of you may be aware that my wife is a teacher. During the summer, she has a gig at a summer day camp. Anyway, she told me the other day that the Crafts Counselor was going to do a project where the kids made checkers games, and she was going to have them collect bottle caps to paint and use as the pieces. SWMBO told her, "Waitaholdit, my husband can just buy those things." So added on to my LHBS order today was four bags (one gross each) of bottle caps, rung separately, with a receipt for bookkeeping purposes.

But get this -- This morning she asks me if I have any extra bottles that I planned on getting rid of. As it happens, since I've been kegging my fivers, I do have a lot of surplus bottles that I've been putting in recycling. Apparently, the Crafts Counselor is also doing a project that calls for bottles. So I'm donating the bottles I would have otherwise schlepped outside on Wednesday night to be recycled.

But I had to ask: She's doing a project that requires bottle caps. She's doing a project that requires beer bottles. So as long as I'm going to the LHBS, is she planning on doing any projects that require malted barley and hops?

Are you sure they’re making checkers? Are you sure that teacher isn’t having them make coffee can drums, or tissue paper flowers, while she collects supplies for her own little project at home? Better tell her she’s going to need a capper, too. And a carboy or fermentor, and some StarSan, and some tubing, and maybe carbonation tabs and a hydrometer...

Alb, she may be getting those other supplies from another source. You gotta spread your resources out, after all.

SWMBO just told me the crafts counselor doesn't need the bottles after all.

I guess they'll just be kegging their little "project."
