Kealia's Kama Citra

I got a surprise Thursday with a few beers from kealia, went home and put it in the fridge. I wasn't going to drink a beer tonite as I had more than my normal Friday amount but this one was calling for me and I said, 'ok, I'll just have 1'. Boy, did I make a great decision.
I could smell this one as soon as I popped the top (with my Beerborg bottle opener of course). It smells very good and I get the Citra immediately in aroma and flavor. But, this one definitely tastes complex. I'm not sure what the recipe is but this is my kind of beer. Not too bitter, balanced and it should be entered into a contest.
Thanks Ron!!!!!

Glad you liked it Paul.. I'll post the recipe after Jeff and Chris have tried it, too. Jeff, yours will go out next week - I ran out of packing supplies. I know you're not a Citra fan but since you keep sending me dark beers...

That looks like a really good beer! I tried a Citra Pale Ale last week and really liked it. Now I'm toying around with making a Citra hopped recipe.

Since Paul was the tester and didn't gag on it I decided to pop one last night. Yep, it didn't suck.
Easy drinker, good Citra presence without being over powering IMO. A nice pale ale to go with a wide range of things...like another one!
The pics make it look darker than it is:

Thanks Ron for sending this one. I drank this one last night. This is a great beer. The balance of malt and hops is perfect. Your right Ron, it's a nice pale ale that drinks so easy. Well brewed my friend, well brewed.

Just received my package from Ron. There is a sticker on the outside of the box that reads, "received in damaged condition, rewrapped by USPS." Confirmed with Ron, one beer is down for the count, but thankfully it's not the Kama Citra.
Funny, that even though the USPS cannot ship beer, someone repackaged the two survivors and sent them on their way.

Being hundreds of millions of dollars in debt makes one look the other way.

Yeah, but the normal Joe or Jill that repackaged it is just like you and me. They could have tossed or kept the other two (because it is illegal) to ship beer through the USPS, but they sent it on anyway.

Yeah, this was really cool of them and reinforces the need for LOTS of packaging. I told Jeff the only thing I did differently was to not write FRAGILE all over the box so I'm thinking this package got beat to hell somehow. MUST remember to write that on the boxes going forward. Or maybe it was just a fluke. In any case, it was cool of them to repack and send it along.
And, luck being what it is - at least it was the beer you've had before and not one of these two new ones. I wouldn't want you to miss out on your cat pee!
I forgot I sent Chris the "alternate label". I like 'em both
Once Jeff tastes his I'll post the recipe here so you guys can compare your tasting notes to what was in it.

Ok, enjoying this as I type. A nice citrus/floral aroma hits your nose. Bitterness hits up front followed with tangerine flavors with a light malt finish at the end. Over all, a very enjoyable beer. And guess what, I'm getting no onion from this.
Thanks Ron
Will send a picture shortly

You can see the beer soaked label and the nice dent in the cap.

Do you normally get onion from Citra? Interesting...
So you can compare your taste buds to the recipe I'm posting it here. It is quite simple and yet turned out a pretty decent beer. To those that are just starting out (I don't know how many people will read this thread) it just goes to show that you don't have to have expensive equipment and LONG brew days to turn out good beer.
I still brew mostly AG BIAB but sometimes I like to play around with a simple pipeline filler. And like mashani, I've had good results with only late additions and/or hopstands (which this one didn't have).
