Who wants rhizomes? Pay it forward
I've got cascade, centennial, hallertauer, nugget, Perle.
I've promised some rhizomes already, and I'm not sure which will have rhizomes next year, but if you want rhizomes, reply here last me know which ones you want.
I live in Utah, so please don't send me a beer in repayment. Instead, give somebody else a rhizome when you can.

I'll take cascade and nugget. Going to force my cousin to lease his yard to me for some growing.

I checked my notes and I still owe pudge (I didn't get any rhizomes this year).
There was somebody else from mr beer fans I promised rhizomes to, but I didn't make a note, so if he didn't make it here . . .

If someone can tell me how to keep dogs safe around the stuff I'd try anything. I have lots of dogs around that I foster, some with low impulse control. So I've always considered trying to grow them here a bad idea. I guess I can grow them in my front yard somehow, where the dogs never go? Not sure if the city would like that though. Are any of them dwarf hops that will grow well low and wide instead of vertical? That might fly better / be easier for me to deal with. I could plant such types along my fence line and then block them off with another row of fence.

I had a dog that was half lab. She'd eat just about anything. She ignored the hop bines. The only time I needed to worry about hops was when they were mixed with grains.mashani wrote:If someone can tell me how to keep dogs safe around the stuff I'd try anything. Seriously. Don't worry about it. Even if it were a problem, if you manage your bines, there won't be any cones below 6 feet (probably higher). If you've got dogs that big, hops are the last of your concern.
Re: Who wants rhizomes? Pay it forward
I would take anything then to try. Whatever other folks don't want or you have extra of. I can find a use for any hop. But Centennial would be great if you have some. Perle would be too. But really, I'll try anything. If my black thumb doesn't kill them off, I'll be happy to pay it forward.

I'd love some hallertauer, nugget and Perle. Would this survive the horid cold of winters here? And lately the highs in the 90s? I have 5 acres of woods, can I plant them in there, or do they require full sun? I have a small field I'm filling with gardens and orchards, could make room there. If you have extras, if not, I'll find some someday.
Life is short, live it to it's fullest!

Re: Who wants rhizomes? Pay it forward
They need full sun. I think they'll do fine in winter. They go dormant and have a long tap root. If they make it through the first year they'll be fine. It gets plenty got in summer here and they don't have any problem. They even grow wild with no water except rainfall (scarce here most years). I water mine because I think they produce more with additional water.FrozenInTime wrote:I'd love some hallertauer, nugget and Perle. Would this survive the horid cold of winters here? Bp! I'm who you kindly offered some rhizomes from MBF. I'm hoping to plant Cascade and Centennial.
