No More 6 Row!!??

I was at my LHBS tonight getting ingredients for Saturday's RCE brew. It is a cream ale (recipe to be posted tomorrow). The recipe was written with 6 pounds of 6 row. I didn't see it so I asked the guy there. He told me that Briess has stopped producing 6 row. Said it wasn't used that much any more so they discontinued it. So I just used 2 row Brewers Malt instead.
Anyone else hear this?

Some of Briess specialty malts, some of their Munich types, etc. are made from 6 row. So there is plenty of 6 row to be had. But maybe they just aren't selling it straight up anymore.
Even if Briess stops selling it you can get Rahr 6-row from any of the on-line places.
But honestly Briess 2-row is so highly modified these days that it's D-Power is 140 or so, where the Rahr 6-Row is 160... so there isn't a huge difference, and I don't see converting some flaked adjunct as a big problem with Briess 2-row. That might not be the case with imported European stuff though.

At Briess I see a
2015 Chart that says,
All Briess malts are produced from 2-Row Malting Barley.
At Rahr I see
6 row listed.

This is exactly what the guy at the store said too.
And, I should have been more clear in that they discontinued their 6 row pale malt.

The thing is, 6-Row is used a lot by the macros in their high adjunct beers.
Even though it tends to produce more haze, they just filter it out at the end...
It's cheaper than 2-row so they profit more.
As a homebrewer, I use it and like the edge I get from it, but I am not set up to filter it out so I just put up with haze (if any) that I might get from time to time.
Basically, it lets me do a smaller base malt load on a small pot PM... (Even though it is not much more powerful than today's 2-row, well, much of it anyway as Mash said)
And it does have a more rustic taste IMO, which can be an advantage in some styles.

They must have changed their formulations then too. Because some of their specialty malts were listed as 6 row in the spec sheets (pdfs) before.

I do know that my favorite LHBS stopped stocking 6 row earlier this year.

My LHBS online store shows they have Rahr 6 row but that doesn't mean it's in stock locally.
Chris, it's likely too late but if you decide to wait, I can run over to my LHBS and grab some and ship it to you Monday in time for next weekend........You'll pay dearly though.

But, I'm with the rest of the gang. You won't know the difference.

No need....I'm brewing this tomorrow anyway. And I've already bought the 2 row. No biggie at all.
