Hard Cider Crisis Diverted - I hope.

Today I decided to do another batch of that Stupid Easy Cider. The plan called for 2 gallons of Motts apple juice fermented with S 05 for about 3 weeks in my LBK. Once fermented, I rack it to one of my 2.5 kegs, back sweeten with a 1/2 gallon of juice and hook up in the kegerator.

I sanitized my LBK and set it aside. I started my yeast and opened both gallons of apple juice to get started.

Well, damnit, my LBK was leaking sanitizer near the spigot. A few attempts to seal it failed as it appears there is a crack in the seam below the spigot.

As Clint Eastwood said, improvise, adapt and overcome.

I decided to ferment them right in their own container using a couple rubber stoppers and airlocks I had on hand.

In my rush, I do not think I removed enough juice for head space. I hope I'm OK but I decided to put these in my laundry tub in case of a blowout.

Wish me luck. Or do you think I should just pour some more juice out?

RIP LBK #2

Good save, I couldn't see my cider ferment so not sure if it forms krausen the way wort does.

You shouldn't have a problem. Even when I oxygenate I never get but a little krausen.

I think I'm OK. Little fellas are bubbling away nicely. I moved them out of the laundry tub this morning.
