Standard American Lager (Yep, really)

Okay, this one is intended mainly as a yeast starter to grow up some more Wyeast 2206. It was also intended as a Light American Lager, but the small grain bill left me with extra sparge water and a little higher than anticipated OG. It already had a wee more bittering than should be for a LAL and ended up landing overall into the Standard American Lager category.

Essentially a big old yeast starter.
Quick turn around.
Intended to be easy drinker under 4% abv.
Eh, whatever...

Wow, where have I been? I've not used Cluster hops since the early 80's and thought they weren't available anymore. I guess all the places I buy hops have all the latest and greatest but not the old classics.
I just realized, I'm old!

48+ hr lag time... Whoa.

Partially my bad. I gave the carboy a few big old swirls 24 hrs or so in introducing more oxygen. It's cranking now though at 48 degrees. Really hoping to keg this one up at the end of the week and harvest the yeast for the next one. It should finish quick.

Pudgeweiser?

It can be fun to use an American Lager grain bill. I usually edge towards the Premium lager guidelines due to hopping.

Finished dead on the projected 1.010. Whodathunkit.

Eh, it's beer. Nice yeast cake to work with though :jumpy:
