Living in so cal does have it's drawbacks

So I have my kegerator on my porch, and it works out pretty darn good.....most of the time. I can have 3 5 gal kegs in there at a time. So last night while watching the game, the wife and I are having a few pints, and we kicked the red ale, then we kicked one of the cream ales (they were close to being done anyways). So we crack the other cream ale kegs and nothing but foam. I start trying to figure out why, and low and behold there is ice on the outside of this one. Half frozen beer. I had not turned the fridge down after the hot weather we had in November and that keg is closest to where the cold air comes in from the freezer. I had some soda pop around that keg, they were frozen also. So I had to try and defrost the beer so I could have some beer. Needless to say I felt like a duffuss, there was 1/8" on the outside of the keg, and I don't own an ice scraper. Just something I didn't expect. It has been cold here lately(not as cold as where most of you live), but getting down to freezing at night.

I just found it funny

It's not a bad idea to invest in a Johnson Controller.

If I understood the original post, a JC wouldn't have helped. I think the keg was outside of the kegerator.

On second reading, perhaps you're right.

I have 3 JCs. The keg is in the fridge. I don't have a jc on that fridge. It's just that keg is positioned in the coldest part of the fridge. It is a side by side, and the wall by the freezer gets a bit colder than where the other 2 kegs are. Just me not paying attention. This happened to me last year when we got some cold weather. lost about 5 bottles due to freezing.

Interesting. I had almost the opposite problem with a refrigerator/freezer in the garage. When it got too cold, since the temp control was in the fridge, the freezer warmed up.

My regular house fridge does the same thing that the outside one does. I went to get some lemonade, and it was half frozen. Checked the temp setting, yep turned up since spring.
