Lili and I just weren’t doing well after Ryley died. We needed a distraction. Enter Stella. She’s almost a year and a half old. Lili picked her out, then had a bit of buyer’s remorse when she realized we were bringing her home. It’s taken a little bit to fall in love again but it’s happening gradually and Lili is finally enjoying romping and running again. But Lili is not nearly as fast as Stella who is at least part whippet. When Stella's sweet she’s very very sweet, but when she’s bad she steals the leftover pork and sauerkraut off the counter.
My surgery ended up not going as well as expected, with some complications afterward but everything is settling down now and i’m trying to follow Dr’s orders and rest. Now that the holidays are over that should be easier. It will all be OK in the end.
One of the beers I made for my nephew for Christmas was a Scottish Ale. I’m not a fan of that style but at different tasting points I could tell it was turning out pretty good. He texted me and said he let a few select friends try it and they gave it rave reviews, even offering to buy a case from me (not gonna happen). Maybe I’ll think about making that for a competition. I can’t imagine it’s as crowded a category as IPAs. I researched and used my own recipe that I’ll post a little later.
