New addition and other news

Lili and I just weren’t doing well after Ryley died. We needed a distraction. Enter Stella. She’s almost a year and a half old. Lili picked her out, then had a bit of buyer’s remorse when she realized we were bringing her home. It’s taken a little bit to fall in love again but it’s happening gradually and Lili is finally enjoying romping and running again. But Lili is not nearly as fast as Stella who is at least part whippet. When Stella's sweet she’s very very sweet, but when she’s bad she steals the leftover pork and sauerkraut off the counter. :o

My surgery ended up not going as well as expected, with some complications afterward but everything is settling down now and i’m trying to follow Dr’s orders and rest. Now that the holidays are over that should be easier. It will all be OK in the end.

One of the beers I made for my nephew for Christmas was a Scottish Ale. I’m not a fan of that style but at different tasting points I could tell it was turning out pretty good. He texted me and said he let a few select friends try it and they gave it rave reviews, even offering to buy a case from me (not gonna happen). Maybe I’ll think about making that for a competition. I can’t imagine it’s as crowded a category as IPAs. I researched and used my own recipe that I’ll post a little later.

You take it easy, Li'l Sis, and rest up properly and follow the doctor's orders.

Stella is a beautiful dog; an intelligent face, and lovely markings. I bet she'll be a good addition to the house, and a good companion for Lili.

And good job on the Scottish Ale. They're a nice change of pace, and I think entering it in a competition is a good idea. It's always good to get the judges' comments.

Don't be a stranger, Alb. We miss you here at the Borg, and I especially like the links to beer-related articles you post.

Congratulations on the new addition. Tho in her defense, I'd steal a pork chop too.
All the best with the recovery.

My grandma would have been yelling "svinehunde!" LOL. Except in her case it would have been a pack of beagles with a hive mind.

But I think she's just a smart dog.

Wish you both the best.

What a nice looking dog. You will love her in time. Dogs have that special power over people.

I am glad to hear you are recovering.

Scottish ales are in a tie with red ales for my favorite malty beers. And they are simple to make.

Swift road to recovery Alb. Congrats on the new addition. Has to be a loving home when there are dog toys on the floor. We have that here as well. We'll pick up the toys and put them in the basket, and as we turn around, Zoey will take them back out and put them back where they were. Silly fur babies.
