6 left before they ship out. I assume they'd let you order after those of us get ours but this better be worth the wait (it never really is, is it?)

They finally plan to ship the Hansen yeast this week but they took their sweet time. It was only supposed to take 2 weeks once they reached their goal and it's been almost 6. Now it's getting hot and if that yeast isn't shipped well and hot, I'm going to act like one of my customers and have my credit card refuse payment. That'll fix 'em! :o :jumpy:

Finally got the yeast today and am kind of pissed about it. They made it seem like 2 weeks after the 250 quantity was met, it would be shipped, 5 weeks later, I got it. Of course, it got to the 80s this week and while it wasn't hot, it wasn't cold either.
So, I have 2 vials (not the new packs but glass vials) of this and will make a starter in a few weeks and brew some tasty pale ale with one and a mid size IPA with the other and see if I wasted $17 on 2 vials of yeast (that I can turn into 6 brews, realistically).

With washing/harvesting, you should be able to get more than 6 brews. I rarely wash/harvest now, but I use dry yeast, so the cost/benefit is much smaller.

I've gotten as many as 8 brews from one yeast but I try to keep them to 3 as I feel that's frugal enough normally and I try to only keep yeasts under 6 months. Then I try to use some different versions so it all works out in the end.

A few weeks ago I emailed WL and cancelled my order of Hansen yeast because when I ordered in November, I had no idea only 6 more were sold and by the time this gets released, it might be the end of summer. They asked me to keep the order but I told them by the time it's released, it will be way to hot to have it delivered no matter how many ice packs they use. Don't they know what 100 degrees outside is like inside a UPS truck or postal truck?
But now it seems they've changed their minds and they are releasing yeast at certain times no matter how many are sold. Here's the info if you are interested. I'm off to order more Hansen yeast.

Order Now: The Vault hits Production!
White Labs is pushing ALL the yeast strains currently in The Vault into production. No need to wait until we hit 250 orders, place an order now and get your strain delivered right to your doorstep!

We’ll release two strains per week until the last one leaves The Vault. Once all the strains have been released, we’ll add the same strains back into The Vault and continually add NEW strains as well. There will still be a 250 pre-order minimum for a strain to go into production. Now is your chance to get these specialty strains without the wait.

Each week we will be cutting off orders for specific strains and pushing a new pair into production. The last day for you to order each strain from The Vault is as follows:
WLP773 Scottish Cider Yeast Blend - Already in production!
WLP030 Thames Ale Yeast - Already in production!
WLP616 Funky Cider Yeast Blend - March 13
WLP925 High Pressure Lager Yeast - March 20
WLP033 Klassic Ale Yeast - March 20
WLP611 New Nordic Yeast Blend - March 27
WLP692 Debaryomyces hansenii - March 27
WLP673 Lactobacillus buchneri - April 3
WLP076 Old Sonoma Ale Yeast - April 3
WLP835 German Lager X - April 10
WLP669 Lactobacillus paracollinoides - April 10
WLP059 Melbourne Ale Yeast - April 17
WLP693 Lactobacillus plantarum - April 17
WLP640 Brettanomyces anomalus I - April 24
WLP075 Hansen Ale Yeast Blend - April 24
WLP064 Buchner Yeast Blend - May 1
WLP678 Lactobacillus hilgardii - May 1
WLP780 Thai Rice Chong Yeast - May 8
WLP845 Fast Lager Yeast - May 8
WLP019 California IV Ale Yeast - May 15
WLP564 Leeuwenhoek Saison Yeast Blend - May 15
Once you’ve placed an order and the cutoff date has passed, you will receive an email confirming your purchase along with the estimated shipping date. We hope you take advantage of this one-time offer. To order visit whitelabs.com/thevault and select the strain or strains you would like to purchase.

Happy Brewing!

Just saw that this morning. If the Asheville contractors worked a little quicker we might have been able to see some yeast in production.

I'm going to throw this out there:

For next year's Borg meetup I suggest that all attendees start growing a beard 1 month before the meetup. Once everybody is gathered the yeast from all the beards is collected and everybody must use that as a starter to brew a collaboration beer.

Damn, I'm a genius.

I have a hard time growing a beard. There are lots of open spaces and its not for me. Plus, though my head is not grey, my beard would be and I'm not going there just yet. But, I'll use hair from other parts of my body plus some toe jam to boot! :o

My little beard is likely Bretty.

Meanwhile, I just ordered a bunch of WLP611 New Nordic Yeast Blend from the wild yeast vault.

That should be fun. I think I will make a Belgian, a Wheat, a Graff, and a Braggot with it.

I think you'll find the Hansen nice and clean and does a good job of allowing the hops and malt to work together well. Make a huge starter and keep some to try on a few different IPA's and Pales.
Don't know anything about the Saison yeast.
