I think this is a great deal. They had a similar deal a few years ago for pin locks and I ordered two of them (8 kegs) thinking that since they were untested, I might get 6 usable kegs. One box came badly damaged, but they replaced it before I even had a chance to check it (I was actually out of town at the time). And all but one of the kegs held pressure. The one that didn't only needed one poppet replaced.

So I ordered 8, thinking I'd get 6, but ended up with 12. I'm not saying that's what will happen for you, but I think that odds are good that you'll get good kegs that may need new o rings, poppets, etc) for $25/keg. I thought it was a good deal a few years ago when it was pin locks, and ball locks have been consistently more expensive than pin locks. And they've been going up in price since then. Even if you only got two good kegs out of the four, this would be a good deal.

If you decide to buy some, I'd probably order new o ring sets at the same time, since the o rings in the kegs will at best have a soda flavor and at worst be dried out and not in good shape. If they're in good shape and just need a good cleaning, you can save the o rings for later (you'll need them eventually). And if you're new to begging, get some keg lube. Vaseline can substitute for keg lube in a pinch, but technically, Vaseline is cosmetic grade and keg lube is food grade.

One guy on the AHA forum uses Olive Oil in place of keg lube. He says it does a terrific job.

That's a good idea. I'll pass it on.
