Please indulge me
I usually brew on Sunday mornings. It's my only sure day off, and it's fun and relaxing for me, and keeps the pipeline flowing. But today, Fedora Brauhaus is dark, and I have a very good reason for keeping my pots cold today.
May 1, 2016, is my father's 90th birthday. His children, grandchildren, and great-grandchildren are coming from all over to celebrate with him. Mom has arranged to have a brunch/lunch catered, and we're all going to get together today. Somewhere around 26 people, if I'm counting correctly, and that's not everyone in the family; just those who were able to make it.
Dad's health is failing; he's very frail, and doesn't get around much at all, but his was quite an active, involved, and fulfilling life. He's been married to his college sweetheart for 65 years, he was the sole provider for his family of five kids and countless cats. He was involved in the town's Little League program for years, as both a team manager and purchasing manager. He was a Sunday School teacher and deacon at church for a long time.
Just by being a good, honest, hard-working man, he influenced so many people in so many positive ways. We have a lot to celebrate today.
Happy birthday, Dad.

Happy Birthday to your father Dave. You've done a great job of summing up a list of his accomplishments and I'm sure that there many warm memories attached to each one. My father-in-law turned 90 over this past winter, although I have known him for only half that long, he has been a positive figure in shaping the lives of myself and his entire family. Thanks for sharing and be sure to lift a pint in celebration to his birthday!

Vince, I'm in charge of providing the beer (homebrewed, of course)!
Your father-in-law sounds like a good man, also.

Re: Please indulge me
It was a good celebration. Once my nephew posts the family portrait on his Facebook page, I'll import it here.
It was so good to see everyone, and get together for this happy occasion. Thanks for all your good wishes, my friends.

Happy Birthday to your Father. It's always a good day to brew, except for when there are other priorities.
