Movie money

2 doors down from my office (a corner lot) is an old building that has not been in use for a few years and will likely be turned into a virtual golf simulation place later this summer but Friday, it will be a used car lot set for filming of Wolverine 3. I was approached yesterday by a Fox rep and asked if they could use my back driveway (gated) to house their car sized generator for 24 hours and a payment of $300.
Of course I said yes though the check will be made to the company and and not me but I felt that was very generous. I likely could have said that I felt it was worth more but I thought they'd offer me $100 so I'm happy with it though that $300 would have gone to some nice brewery upgrades!
Plus, they are making that old, tired looking building look nice.

They did ask me a few weeks back that if they see if in the shot, could they digitally remove certain things or put up another sign (for payment of course) and I said, "sure" but so far, that's not happened. And, my storefront isn't much to look at anyway.
If the streets get blocked Friday, I may have to close early. But Friday afternoons are dead anyway so beer-thirty may start early Friday.

Sit out in front with a beer and watch Hollywood in action!

Big miss I think.
"Sure, I'll take $300 plus a photo with Hugh Jackman".

Ooooh, what a great idea. I see a new beer name in the future.
My UPS driver just told me a company near us is getting $3000 to let a camera man stand on their roof for 1 day! And another is getting $1000 to have them put a fake sign in their window and film it. I'm hoping for more trickle down movie money.

This is why it cost so much to see a movie and that's just the tip of the iceberg.

I go to the movies and wait for them on cable so I'm fine with them paying me. I wish I got a piece of the gross though.

Hold out for a percentage of the box office. That's where the money is.
