I was in Lewes De for a week. My Father in law lives there, right near the beach. In addition to family visits, cookouts, canoeing, sailing the canoe(!), swimming etc, we did find time to visit a brewery, Crooked Hammock. Good food, good beer, good crowd. My wife wanted to bring home a growler. We have one in the car on standby, and we like to get new ones when we travel. We chose another option: a 32oz can of tap beer. The bartender filled a topless can at the tap, dropped a top on it, and put it in a machine that sealed it. Way cool. I want one of those machines too.
The only bad news is that I left the can in my FIL's fridge. Thank heaven they are coming up next week!

We don't have anyone here doing this yet but this has become very popular around many areas of the country but I understand it's somewhat pricey.

I'm sure the system is costly. The quart of IPA was $9, less than many bombers. I think a growler fill would have been $15.

Crowlers aren't much more expensive than growler fills, if not the same price. Around here anyhow.

I picked up two the other day, a stout and an ipa... 32 oz each, $8 a piece.

A bit pricey... But I'm into supporting local brewers.

Labels if you are doing it commercially...

I think a starter kit includes some cans

We are going to Ocean City MD in Sept to stay with my wife's aunt for a week, right on the beach of course,
and we are going to visit Dogfish Head once and this isn't that much farther up the road!

TT, there are some great breweries on the Eastern Shore. I really liked the line-up at Crooked Hammock. There's a small brewery in Rehobeth named Revelation that was recommended to me, but I did not visit. I also like Evolution in Salisbury MD, west of Ocean City. We were at DFH two years ago and had a blast.

Update: It leaked. When I finally got my crowler back, it was soft and light. I had noticed that even in the first few days after purchase, the bottom was wet with beer. I just thought I had not rinsed it well after filling. Turns out it never completely sealed.

I saw a growler in Costco this past weekend that looks super promising. The brand is REDUCED, it's a 64 oz stainless steel growler with double wall insulation and a screw cap. I'm probably gonna break down and get one. I think it was $21.99 until Sept 7th.
