Any one use this Northern Brewer crusher? We are a little disappointed locally with grain selection and handling - so time to get into the grind. Plan is to crush over ale pale using 3/8" cordless drill driver.

I have a cereal killer and love it, 7lb hopper and can use 3/8 cordless drill. Adventures In Homebrewing has them on sale right now too, $99.00 and free shipping.

The barley crusher is a fantastic grain mill. The lifetime warranty is nice peace of mind.

However, the Cereal Killer is a very similar mill, and costs less--but you don't get the lifetime warranty.

Either should do the job well. :)

I've got a 4 year old Barley Crusher that is still working perfect for me. Never changed the settings once since I got it and it's still set right (knock on wood).

BC is a POS ... as is the <cough> customer service <cough>.
What good is a lifetime warranty if the company is unresponsive?

Cereal Crusher is far and away the better machine for the money.

That's a fair point--I don't know anything about how well the Barley Crusher's company responds to warranty questions/issues. For a while, it was pretty much the only roller mill that came with a base and hopper, and didn't require you to DIY a bunch of stuff, and it does work great--but so does the Cereal Killer.

I only just upgraded from a blender to a corona mill.
But it's nice to see you. Give our regards to BB.

The crush I got from BC was never as good as it is with the CK.
The CK has a far easier gap adjustment ... too.

CK seemed a bit of a light-weight right out of the box but its performance has exceeded my expectations.
Then again ... I'm milling a mere 5-6# for 2.5G batches so it's not getting a big workout.

Only real complaint is the deep notch on the shaft's end.
Not the best attachment point for a drill.

My first was a Barley Crusher and it worked well......until it didn't. Not what you want to find to out as you mash water hits temperature. Looks like the knurling wore off the drive roller. I had read that quite a few folks were having problems with them so I went another route.
I ordered this Monster Mill with the heat treated rollers for my birthday present. This thing is Bad A**, I'm gonna leave this to my son to crush grain with 30 years from now.
