Is it the last if the season due to losing the hot weather, or just scheduling? I ask because I brewed my hefeweizen in the spring and entered it in a competition, and one comment from judges was it needed more banana flavor, so I should brew it at a higher temperature.

I dont really like wheat beers in the winter. I love them in warm weather. So they are a seasonal brew for me.

I didn't have any rice hulls and I did have a stuck sparge with 1 gallon to go in my final runnings. It wasn't too bad and cleared up completely the 4th time I blew into the ball valve.

I am really impressed with the precision of the regulator on my Blichmann burner. I filled my kettle to 1 inch from the top. I brought the temp up to 200 quickly then dialed it back to bring on in to a boil slowly. Perfectly executed and no boil overs.

Do you really only lose 1/2 gallon in your 60-minute boil?

And that recipe sounds yummy. Wheat + Amarillo + Citra. What's not to like!!

No. Beersmith is quite wrong about that. I lose a gallon and a bit more.

This looks very tasty!
If you've never done a recipe with Amarillo/Citra together, I think you'll be very pleased with the flavor!

This is the first time I have tried it. I really like my last White Wheat Hoppimania. I put some columbus in for 5 minutes on that one. But I didn't use any Amarillo.

6lbs Rahr 2 Row Barley
3 lbs White Wheat Malt
1.4 oz Cascade Hops
1 oz Citra Hops 14.5%
1oz Columbus Hops
BRY-97
Mashed at 152 for 60 minutes
Batch Sparge 10 minutes at 168
FWH 1 oz Cascade
Boiled 60 minutes
0.5 oz Citra and 0.2 oz Cascade at 15 minutes
0.5 oz Citra and 0.2 oz Cascade at 10 minutes
1oz Columbus 5 minutes
OG 1.053
FG 1.012 EST ABV 5.5% 180.7 Calories

Surprised you used American West coast yeast and not a Belgian to make a wit (since using white wheat)

I like American Wheat beers rather than Hefs or Belgians. And I really like white wheat best for some reason. Though some day I do want to try a farmhouse ale.
