Another great bar

My wife took me to a Red Sox game yesterday for a pre birthday present. Great game right to end. While walking back to the "T", we decided to stop for a beer to let the crowds thin. Or, because my wife needed to use the restroom... depends on who you ask... anyway, we found a new place, inside is a restaurant and very large oval shaped bar, baretenders in the middle, along with n outdoor patio. It was a humid day, so I elected to stay inside.... once again, who's idea it was depends on who you ask. Cool brushed stailess steel bar, about 3' deep so there is plenty of room, the taps lined the bar back... 165 taps, serving 141 different beers. DAMN!!! It's called the Yard House... beer comes in preselected flights of light or dark, small, (forgot what they call them) pints or 1/2 yards.... Food was fantastic as well. Just had a couple of Korean street tacos... Always nice to find a place like that...

I went with the light flight, mostly IPA's, although I love darker beers, it didn't seem to be the weather. Wasn't overly impressed with the selection, I'm guessing they made it for getting rid of slow movers. It had a house ale that was good, but a wheat beer that is best described as fresh sweaty socks steeped in a sweet lemon honey tea.... (where's the barfy smiley when you need him?) that was a quick 4 oz. shot of beer....
Next time I'll be ordering from the book...

There is a Yard House in the Legends area of Kansas City. I always stop there when going to Cabelas or Nebraska Furniture Mart.

Gymrat... is it as I described it? I guess it would take a chain to open with that much real estate in the real estate it is located... Prime Time!!

I can't wait to go back and try some of their brews, I was disappointed in the offering on the flights, not what I feel IPA's should be, but the list is long...

Yes their food is fantastic too. Pricey. But fantastic. I love trying beers there on tap that I have only been able to try in bottles or cans. Or trying something new there.

There's one here by me (20 miles), too. I've never been although I hear the selection is the same as you've said: massive.
Out here in CA they tend to pop up in the newer developments that are part housing, part shopping, part places "to see or be seen".

Good to know that the food is good, though. Maybe I'll actually try it out one day.

I have one down here in S. FL
It's a bit pricey, but a solid place for good beer. They always have Rasputin on Nitro.
It's a bit cold and sterile though, the environment, but most chains are lacking that special touch you get at smaller operations.
If I'm in the area it's a nice place to get lunch once in a while. It also promotes craft beer culture which is always a good thing.

While $7 a pint is pricey, it beat the $9 pints at Fenway... I would go again if I was in the area. Almost a 2 hour drive there.
