Stella! Stop that!
Dogs were outside playing in the snow. Dog door is accessible in case they get too cold. I'm getting ready to brew a Mosaic Rye, so I crushed the grains into a bucket. Went downstairs to the basement to retrieve my hops from the keezer. When I came up, Stella was testing the grain bill for me. I think she only got a few licks in. I'm going ahead with it. I know they eat rabbit poop if they get a chance but it's going under the boil for 60 minutes, right?
I can always give this batch to my brudder.

Charlie has 'tested' my crushed grain and I just went ahead with the recipe. I think the cracked grain dust is sweet and tasty to them (it is to me too). Even a temp of 170-180 is enough to kill most anything. I've read that some people with cold sores saw them go away quickly after being face-licked by their dog. Guess they have clean mouths.

Boil away. Dog Slobber Rye, I'd enjoy a glass even knowing what happened.alb wrote: I know they eat rabbit poop if they get a chance but it's going under the boil for 60 minutes, right?

Yeah, that wouldn't bother me.
I did throw out two pounds of grain that had mouse poop.

If anything can survive 60 minutes of being boiled, I, for one, will welcome our new one-celled Overlords.

I read where some science person made beer out of duck poop and green slime infested water to prove that ancient people would have used beer as a way to make water drinkable, and gave samples to people who thought the final product was good and they did not die.
So a few licks from a pup, no biggies.

Dog hair is a constant ingredient in my grist so I wouldn't worry about a few licks either!

I'm not sure my friends would go for "Dog Slobber Rye" but I think they'll go for "Stella's Imposition RyePA." Her pic will be on the label.

Old timers will remember that I made cat butt ale once.
It was delicious.

Maybe "Little Licker RyePA." My Front Porch Ale had a skunk on it and people balked.
