As some of you know I brewed my Citra-Nilla IPA for this Rat Fest competition. This was purely a public opinion competition, meaning that everyone (over 250 people) that bought a ticket and attended were able to vote for their favorite beers. There were 28 different, unique brews with seven homebrew clubs brewing four beers each. In addition to my Citra-Nilla beer my club (Sons of Liberty) brewed a Sour Raspberry Wheat, a Chocolate & Toasted Coconut Stout and a Mango Habanero Saison. All very solid beers in my opinion.
Unfortunately we didn't take first place in any of the four categories, Best Group of Beers, Best Overall Beer, Best Sour and Most Unique Beer. However my club did come in second for Best Group of Beers and my Citra-Nilla IPA took second place for Best Overall Beer so I am hardly disappointed and in fact I am very encouraged by feed back from the public and overall comments that my beer was completely and unexpectedly a damn good beer.
