300, Now Surgery

I wanted to post this video because I know Dave bowls as well.

A little backstory since my delivery right now is a little uncommon. Around thanksgiving 2015 I hurt myself. In doing so I tore the labrum muscle in my right hip which sidelined me from bowling for over a year. I decided instead of completely stopping bowling I would revise my approach. I determined I can still bowl using a one step delivery approach. It has been a little difficult but I'm finally getting everything in time.

I was able to pull it together this night. It was the most nervous I e been since my first attempt at a 300 probably 12+ years ago. Main due to the new style but also because my wife was present and she has never seen me throw a 300 game. So it was definitely special.

Well, now that this is done I have also found a new Dr. who agreed surgery is the solution. I have scheduled surgery for April 26th which will put me on the shelf for 6-8 months. At least there is a fix though. Looking forward to getting this issue taken care of.

Hope the video comes thru. There is no sound.

Congrats! That's awesome.
Best of luck on the surgery. If you run out of homebrew after surgery, let us know and I and the Borg can put together some care packages to keep you healthy!

Congratulations! That's a great achievement.

My brother, who is the anchor for our team, bowled a 300 this past autumn. It was especially meaningful, since our dad, who was an avid bowler for many years, passed away in August. When he came off the approach, I hugged him and told him, "Dad would have been so pleased." Ed replied, in a husky, but excited voice, "I know."

Good luck with the surgery.

Congrats on the 300. Not easy to do. Highest I ever got was 280 (tapped on last frame / made spare). Bowled a few 800 series, and averaged > 200 a few times. But I can't bowl at all anymore due to hand condition, so I'll never get that 300.

Hope the surgery goes well.

Congratulations on the 300!! My best was also a 280, and I don't bowl competitively anymore so will likely never get a perfect game.

Good luck with the surgery. It will take time and physical therapy to recover. My former 3 sport athlete daughter developed severe hip pain after the birth of her 3rd child. It took several good doctors about 4 years to figure out she had a torn labrum. Surgery worked, but it took her a year to fully recover.

Congrats on the game.

I threw a 299 once. Right handed bowler and left a solid 9 pin in the 10th on a perfect pocket hit. The house bought me beer for the night for my sorrows.

I like you priorities. Haha, good luck with both the bowling and your surgery/recovery.

Thanks everyone. I really can't wait to get this taken care of.

Doc, the Dr has been amazing so far. I can't believe it took your daughter that long. I've been dealing with it for a year and a half and it's driving me crazy. Luckily for me it's not any amount of pain I'm in but the constant nagging feeling in my hip. Dr asked what was wrong and the only way I could describe it was that it felt weird, like something was in the joint that shouldn't be and I could feel it moving around. I was surprised to find out it was in the hip since when it happened it felt like I pulled a groin muscle or a high thigh muscle.

Set the date on Friday so surgery will happen on 4/25. Couldn't believe it that the dr called me Sunday night to answer a few more questions my wife had. Any dr calling patients on a Sunday night has my vote of confidence and shows he really cares, in my opinion. I was floored when I answered the phone.

Last order of business is brewing one more batch of beer after my vacation. What to brew, what to brew?

Congrats and good liuck, Dan. Found a good Dr it sounds like. When I had my Obstructed Bowel problem in 2012 I found a new Dr. from my ER visit, still have her as my Dr. called on more than one weekend to find out if things were going ok and the fill me in on a prescription or test result. Great to find a Dr like that for sure!
