They Drank My Beer!

And liked it.
I brought two growlers of homebrew to a Catboat Association meeting this weekend. I was encouraged to see that most of the other beer brought was craft beer, but a little concerned too. It was good that they weren't a BMC crowd, but I was competing with pros. There was also plenty of wine and rum. At the end of the night there were bottles of craft beer to store, but my growlers were empty. I definitely saw people drink it, and there were compliments, so I know they didn't dump it or spit it out.
So I've got that going for me.
And yeah, I'm bragging a little.

And you should brag a little. That's awesome. Glad they liked your beer. Just don't share too much, cause you'll run out.

Ain't that cool? Be careful or you'll be their main supplier!

Thanks Brothers.
I'm being careful. The party was in Connecticut. But I am considering ways to carry a keg in the boat for the next raft-up.

'Keg in a boat', has a nice ring to it! I cart an Igloo Cube and a 2.5 gallon corny to little get togethers. I have not designed a mobile 5 gallon equivalent yet, obviously it would be twice as much fun.

Good idea Screwy. I'm thinking 2.5 keg also. The boat has a 6.5cuft icebox built in. If it's tall enough, the keg might fit right in.

Congrats! I've done that at work functions a few times and it always feels good when they go for the homebrew over the commercial stuff. Enjoy it!

Congratulations, John! It's always a great feeling to get unsolicited positive feedback about your homebrew.

Congrats on your beer. It's always fun when it's a hit.
I've brewed enough home brew to get a whole range of reactions. When I first started brewing and even now when someone tries my home brew for the first time people are surprised that it is good and drinkable. I'll admit that at first I was too. I believe that before I started brewing and I ran across a Mr. Beer holiday display that I confidently told people that it was ridiculous to think anyone could make beer at home when quite obviously only a large brewing plant could make beer.
Making good beer is a lot of fun and I'm glad that people got to enjoy your beer.

Thanks Prof.
I spent a whole year making mediocre to poor beer. I still vividly remember the first time an astonished friend remarked: "You made this?" and told me he would happily pay for beer that good.
Of course, I still occasionally dump a batch too.
