Wow. It's rare to see somebody take responsibility for things today. At the same time I don't want to make him out to be a hero, and put the focus on him rather than the victim.

It's a little hard to process....

I understand what you mean, Ron, but it seems to me he's not trying to be a hero. He's just candidly acknowledging his bad decision, and taking responsibility for the consequences in the hopes that it may make a difference to someone else.

But you're right; it's a little hard to process.

This was just on the news again. He was indicted today for Aggravated Vehicular Homicide and Operating a Vehicle under the Influence of Alcohol. He then turned himself into police. The Columbus prosecuter said that he won't let the confession influence his decision to prosecute to the fullest. According to the news, he faces 8.5 years in prison.

He is far from a hero- but he is choosing to cling to whatever decency is within him after such an tragic error on his part by seeking to prevent further tragedy. For that, I applaud him.

I guess "hero" was the wrong choice of words. I agree with the sentiment that you guys have expressed, I just worded it poorly.

what he did sucks and 8.5 years ain't enough. but the willingness to "man up" is surprising and noteworthy in this day and age. for that i applaud him, it was little late but he learned to be an adult.

It ought to be on TV every day. Maybe he saved a life, or several. Maybe he saved himself too.

Just a follow up to this. He plead Not Guilty.

However his lawyers have stated that he plead not guilty so that they can get a judge that will accept a guilty plea. I am not a lawyer so I do not understand how that works but it seems awfully fishy to me.

I don't get it either. Here's a link to the local news here: http://abc6onyourside.com/shared/news/f ... 6166.shtml

Here's a quote from his attorney on why he plead not guilty...."He doesn't want any appearance of favoritism, or [that] he sought out a particular judge."
I'm not sure exactly what that means.

with out knowing the judges in the locality it could've been like pleading guilty to Isaac Parker.
