Keezer issue
I think my keezer has a freon leak. The internal temperature is too warm, and the lights on the front are lit continuously, rather than kicking in intermittently, as was the pattern when it was working properly.
Well, I guess I'll ask the plumber about that when he comes over to fix the sink. He may not be able to do anything about it, but at least I'll get a professional's opinion and maybe get some options. I'd hate to have to buy another freezer (I really can't afford one right now). But I've got three kegs in there, and that's most of my pipeline at the moment.

Re: Keezer issue
Are you using a temp controller or the keezer itself to regulate temperature? If a controller, try unplugging everything, letting it sit 10 minutes or so then plugging things back in.

Re: Keezer issue
I have a Johnson Controller to regulate the temp, yeah. I'll give it a try, although I have my doubts. Some ice had formed inside on the walls, and I can only figure that freon escaped and froze the condensate that you always get.
But it's certainly worth a try.

Re: Keezer issue
No dice. I think I need to get someone in here to check on the freon. Great, first the kitchen sink (which is fixed, thank you) and now the keezer.

Re: Keezer issue
Keep in mind that your freezer is just over 3 years old. Depending what is wrong, and what the warranty is, you may owe nothing. Of course you have to have a repairman that provides warranty work for that brand. And how you bought it matters. I use a CitiBank credit card (Costco, Citi Double Cash, Hilton and many others) which now provides (didn't back in 2014) an extra TWO YEARS on every warranty. So 1 year becomes 3, 3 years becomes 5. Two months becomes two years and two months... No other card has that type of warranty.

Re: Keezer issue
I keep Damp Rid in my chest freezer and never had to deal with condensation build up as a result. It also does a great job in keeping the insides dry even when fermenting 10 gallons of beer in there.

Re: Keezer issue
Good advice about the extended warranty provided by credit cards.
But any warranty may be void if he drilled holes in it.

Re: Keezer issue
They would have to prove that his drilling holes in it caused it to fail.

Re: Keezer issue
I didn't drill holes in it, though. I took the lid off, had my brother build a wooden collar for the taps to go through, and screwed the lid back onto the collar. If I took the collar off, I could replace the lid using the original holes and screws (which I kept) and you would never know it had been used as a draft beer dispenser.

Also make sure they don't know you used a temp controller on it. I'm sure that would void the warranty for sure

Re: Keezer issue
After you verify whether parts of it (compressor) are under warranty, I WOULD do exactly that before the repairman comes. Otherwise, he'll see the beer setup and know you used a temp controller.FedoraDave wrote:I didn't drill holes in it, though. Re: Keezer issue
Well, it's pretty clear that this thing is deader than Elvis. I've ordered a replacement freezer. Nothing for it, I'm afraid. Thanks for all the advice, both in this thread and in PMs.

Re: Keezer issue
Sorry about that, John. I accept no responsibility, however.
I should be getting delivery on the new freezer on Monday. I've been trying to suss out the best way to transfer the kegs and lines from one to the other. It's definitely a two-man job, and maybe even a three-man job, as I envision it.
