Ooooold timer returns

Hey Borg, it's been like 2 years since i logged in here. Life flies by ya know? I've recently decided to get back into home brewing after being out of it for a while. Hopefully I won't be such a stranger going forward. My oldest daughter is now a freshman in college and my youngest will finish 7th grade this year. I hope to have more time to brew with one of them out of the house now. I know...the road to hell is paved with good intentions!! I'm going to turn an old HCCD into an IPA with Amber DME additions, some Carapils and a lot of Cascades. I'm sure it will all come back to me once I get the kettles and fermenter out of storage.

Glad to be back!!

Hey Wings great to have you back and brewing and back here. You were one of the first to come here when we abandoned ship at MB forum. I was stuck in nowhere for awhile until I found most here.
:clink: Make some beer and join in :clink:

Thanks for the warm Re-Welcome!!! I swear it's like the prodigal returning. I was sad to see the post regarding JJ's passing. They say death is a part of life but that doesn't mean anyone is fond of the losses that we have over the years. My old "lake crew" from my younger days is falling one by one and it's hard to deal with at times - the most recent was a woman my wife and I have known for almost 30 years. She succumbed to lung cancer a couple of weeks ago at age 59. Too young, much too young. Anyhow, sorry to go off on that tangent but as most of you know, that's often how my posts evolve......Merry Christmas to the Collective!

Ha, I think that might actually have been on the really old forum.

Welcome back.

All right.......rusty as I am......I've got 2.5 ounces of Amarillo, 2.5 ounces of Centennial and 1 ounce of Cascades. I'll work out the times of the boils, etc but any opinions of which of the three I've got on hand to use as the bittering hops? I'm leaning towards using the Amarillo as the dry hop and either C hops works in a faux IPA so......??
