Good morning BORG! :borg:

Just received a 1/2 pound of Mandarina hops...
the reason I purchased them was I had a beer at Dogfish Head restaurant last year
that was mad e with Mandarina, and I thought it was an excellent beer.
Can't find anything about it on line or I'm just not looking well enough.
Got this recipe mashing right now and I'm curious as to what I can expect from these hops...

Thanks in advance for any input! :)

I and others have used it with varying results. I find it best steeped and dry hopped. One beer I felt it underwhelming and another I enjoyed much more. But, I 've never used it pretty much by itself as you have (other than your bittering addition).
Let us know what you think. I got a bit of citrus out of it but more so on the aroma that the palette. I have some left and was planning on heavier doses in a dry hop of a pale ale for the early spring (if spring ever gets here).

I’ve used it a few times. And as Beer-lord mentions, with different results. I have also had many commercial beers that use it and have loved every one of them.

One thing I have learned is that it’s a very mild hop. So don’t be afraid to use more than you think you should. Your recipe looks pretty good, but if I were brewing it, I would double each of the Mandarina additions! It’s that mild! At least so think it is.

I'm not particularly fond of this beer...

I brewed it exactly to the recipe. I'm picking up some hints of the orange and citrus
but I'm getting a strong bitterness, and as little Warrior as I used I wouldn't expect that.

Next time I'll try it as a SMaSH and as Duck suggested, double all the additions!

Thanks BORG! :borg:

Not sure how I missed this thread. I have a love/hate relationship with this yeast.
I LOVE the way it expresses itself in Firestone Walker's Easy Jack (Session IPA).
I've brewed with it twice now and HATE how I'm not able to pull anything out of it.

Blackduck and I collaborated on a brew and both of us were stunned at how little of it came through so I wish you nothing but luck!
