Barrel Aged RIS Collaboration

I mentioned this before that members of my homebrew club, Sons of Liberty collaborated and brewed 55 gallons of a Russian Imperial Stout. Today we we're finally able to get it into the Four Roses Bourbon barrel that we purchased last fall. Everything went smoothly racking the beer into the barrel. Now the hard part is to wait.

The plan is to keg this and divide it between all the brewers with some reserved to have on tap at the Michigan Homebrew Festival.

Yep, interesting. I had an BBS last night at a tiny local brewery, enjoyed it very much.

That's cool Leigh. How long are y'all going to let it rest in the barrel?

I forgot to mention that each batch was taste tested before being racked into the barrel. It was very interesting to taste the differences between them all even though they were all the same recipe.

We did that at our homebrew club too. The beers were all different there too.
