Hi all,

I checked with Leigh and got the go ahead on posting this, so here it goes. A buddy of mine owns The Beer Syrup Company, the first (and maybe only) commercial beer syrup producer in the US. The product is pretty awesome. He hand crafts beer, then uses a proprietary process to turn it into a syrup while reducing the alcohol to levels similar to Kombucha or N/A beer. It's not a brewing extract, but is more like a simple syrup for cocktails, coffee, and cooking. It's great stuff!

He has an awesome following here in Louisville, but is working to increase his online sales by launching on Amazon. I'm helping him out with this. We are looking to gain some honest reviews for the listing, which I thought some of you all might be able to help out with. In exchange, I am offering discount codes for 30% off. The codes are only good for 1 use, and only until May 5. We'd certainly appreciate an honest review (but, if you feel it is less than 5 stars, contact me directly and we'll see what we can do!).

We are starting out with the Bourbon Barrel Stout. It makes an awesome Old Fashioned, and is also pretty tasty on pancakes and ice cream. We will launch his other flavors pretty soon, after we get this one going (and maybe we'll add some more specials for you all then too!).

You can find out more about Russ and his business here.

You can find the Amazon listing here (not an affiliate).

And the discount codes. These should give you 30% off, bringing the price down to $22ish with Prime shipping.

That's very interesting! It's probably not for me but I'll think about it and maybe give it a try.

Wow...that's kinda cool. What do you mean it's probably not for you Paul? What if he has a Double IPA syrup, you can have your pancakes topped with all that hoppy goodness you like!!!

Well, first, he'd have to have my permission but second, yes, I think I would like to wake up to that many mornings.

That is an interesting product. It's not in my wheel-house of flavor but hope that a few folks here will take advantage of the offer.

On a side note, I just assumed Paul dry-hopped his pancakes already.

Ha! You guys are hilarious! The Pecan Brown, chocolate porter, and cider flavors are great too. No IPA, though. It’d be pretty darn bitter. But I’ll forward the request. :)

We hope to bring the other flavors to Amazon soon.

Yea, you're right...after it's boiled down it probably would be mouth puckering bitter. Never thought of that.

What's wrong with that? A bunch of wimps I tell ya!
I may give this a try but I think I'd prefer the Nut Brown or Chocolate Porter more.

What are your thought of using the syrup addition at flameout or just before pitching for the Bourbon Barrel effect in a stout?

Can't say I know. It's not meant for brewing, per say. I'd imagine you could use it like any other syrup, which can be done. And I'd guess it would be good as a post fermenting addition too, ala Belgian fruit syrups.

I'd bet a shot in a stout would be mighty tasty mixed in the glass!
