Place To Go When Visiting Nashville

I'll be visiting Nashville for St. Patricks Day week and was wondering which places the Borg recommends visiting while I'm there. It'll be my first trip there and at the top of my list are the best places to eat and drink great beer. Any suggestions and/or recommendations for the area are greatly appreciated.

WOW...you may have just opened up a can of worms here.
Yazoo Brewing
Bearded Iris
Southern Grist
East Nashville Beer Works
Tennessee Brew Works
Blackstone

You're gonna be busy and you'll have a great time. And of course drinking beers with Swen is always a plus.

For sure these also
Tailgate Brewery
Corsair Brewing and Distillery (in the Marathon Automobile bldg American Pickers store is in there too)
Acme Feed and Seed is a restaurant/bar/music venue that was ok
Peg Leg Porker BBQ
Hattie B's Hot Chicken.

Swen I'm sure will send you a huge list of Nashville musts also

Too bad the new Yazoo won't be open yet. I second those places especially Southern Grist and East Nashville Brew works. Of course, I love the Bearded Iris beers but the vibe there was missing for me.
Have fun Vince!

Haha damn! I didn't see half of those places when doing a Google search. I knew you were the right people to ask this morning. I'm not sure what my schedule will be once I get there with the family but I'm always open to sharing some beers with Swen and fellow Borg members. Thank you for the recommendations.

I'll second Hattie B's for some hot chicken. Plan ahead for a wait or order online and walk past the long line to pick it up.

If you like music (not just country) do take a walk down Broadway and pop into a couple of local bars for the live music. If you don't like what you hear you can literally walk 10 feet to the next one and hear something different. It's a fun vibe (IMO anyway).

Looks like the boys have you covered on breweries.

Willing and glad to offer suggestions. Let me know what kind of food you're into and I can recommend some restaurants. As for beer, a lot already covered above. For breweries with food, Tailgate (pizza) and TN Brew Works are great options. Blackstone also has a permanent food truck situation now. If you like Indian food, the owner of Life is Brewing [Mantra/Humulus Project/Steel Barrel] has a couple fantastic restaurants (that have the above mentioned breweries on tap). She's one of the judges on Chopped on Food Network. Food there is killer. Their main location (the one I linked on your page at MTSU) is open now, but it's a bit of a haul from downtown. Broadway Brewhouse is a great place to get food and local taps. They have a location on Broadway (duh) where Kealia mentions. Several, several others. Solid breweries not mentioned are New Heights, Black Abbey, Harding House (near Southern Grist/Tailgate/Turtle Anarchy), Jackalope (near Yazoo, New Heights and Diskin Cider). Also several distilleries with tasting rooms... Just let me know what you are thinking and I'll give suggestions...

Corsair is phasing out their beer program and beer taproom unfortunately. I don't know if it's gone yet, but I know they let Karen go and my understanding is that they are extending the distillery into the taproom space.

Thank you Swen for providing so many more options to consider. If you remember from our trip to Asheville my wife Eileen is not a beer drinker. Although she does enjoy an occasional cocktail or glass of wine. If you could point out a couple of places you'd recommend for non-beer drinkers that'd be great. And if they're kid-friendly, as our 15 year old granddaughter will be with us too. As for my daughter, son-in-law and myself, we're fine with nearly everything previously mentioned.

Also can you explain
..the one I linked on your page at MTSU
I didn't quite understand it?

Thanks for all of the tips on places to visit while in Nashville. I'll be getting there today just in time for St. Patrick's Day tomorrow. I'm thinking there may be lots of celebrating to do!

I gotta ask. How did they get that Cadillac stuck to the wall at Tootsies?!

What a great time in Nashville! So much great music, so little time. I can't remember seeing so many skyscrapers under construction in a city before. The house we stayed at was a short drive down 8th Ave to Broadway. We were close enough to split our time between Downtown, 12 South and surrounding areas. So many great places to visit, eat and drink at too like Martins, Urban Grub, Bartaco and Barcelona just to name a few. After a week I realized it'd take at least another week or two to see and do everything we wanted.

So what brewery did you most enjoy? Any favorites, beer wise?
I also wondered how they can have so much construction going on in so many places. Nashville is a hot town!
