TIL (Today I Learned)

It seems like every time I brew I learn something new. It might be a small little process thing or some type of "ah ha" moment so I thought it might be fun and informative to have an ongoing thread where we can post things that we learned while brewing that might not need a whole thread to itself.

So with that said... TIL (actually Saturday) that if you forget to check the temperature for your mash water while heating it and it gets to hot you can use a de-labeled 1/2 gallon milk jug filled with water and frozen to swirl in your mash water to bring the temperature back down to the desired mash temp. :freeze:

Clever idea and better than my now obsolete technique of putting the strike water pot in the sink and spraying the outside of it with cold tap water whilst stirring.
