Changing Plans

Mr. Beer was having a BOGO sale on starter kits. I ordered 2 so I can get 2 free. All orders over $75 ships free. My order is way above that. They want to charge me $80 for shipping though. Sent several emails asking about it but no reply back in 3 days. Not a happy camper.

Instead, I ordered a NB start up package. Buckets, 5 gallon kettle, and other stuff that comes with it. Might as well do 5 gallon extract recipies.

If you sent emails over the Thanksgiving holidays, there's a chance they were all off. I'm not sure shipping would be $80 even if there was no free shipping but I'm pretty sure if you keep trying, they will get back to you.
You would save money brewing larger volumes but I would suggest you get your experience with smaller volumes first. The NB starter package is a great start.
Good luck.

Yes that is a good way to start out. If a hydrometer is not included in the kit I would suggest getting one and also some Star San or other sanitizer. Good luck and keep us informed on your brewing.

Thanks. Going to my local homebrew store tomorrow to get a few more items. I can not order from NB because of the high shipping charges. I live in Anchorage Alaska. Even though it is the main hub here it does not cost more to ship here. But companies charge more anyways. Anything I buy I get on amazon for the free shipping.

Mr. Beer is closed on weekends, probably closed since Weds.
