Re: West Coast IPL
Kegged this yesterday and the hydro sample tasted good. I expect to be drinking this in under 2 weeks since I'm not really lagering it. It may benefit from lagering but since it takes me some time to finish a keg (I usually have 3 going at a time) I will be able to see how this improves as it ages. Since it's hoppy, I'm not expecting much improvement after the first month if at all.

Re: West Coast IPL
I shared some of this beer last night after only 3 full days in the keg and I'm very impressed! It will only get better but it was funny to see what each got out of this beer. Our 'super taster' friend said she got some wheat from it but she gets that on a number of beers. Another wasn't sure it was even a lager and thought it was a very pale ale. I definitely get the pils malt taste and a muted cracker crumb flavor and the hops are not overdone at all. But of course, it's a different taste when very cold than when it's warm. As it warms, I definitely get some citrus flavors.
Only tweaks I'd make is maybe to do a 10 minute whirlpool for some more aroma and try another dry hop instead of Comet Hop Hash. I'm not really sure about hash anyway as I have used it a number of times and can't say I've really noticed it.
Definitely gonna make this again in the summer!
EDIT: I forgot to mention that I even emailed Jeff at Bootleg Biology to tell them how much I like this yeast. Having only used a lager yeast once before with so-so results, I'm not sure I'd use any other than this except if I was trying to copy a particular style. It's worth trying for those who want something clean without having to lager forever.
