I've only used Verdant 3 times (like it so far) but it never went nuts for me but they were all relatively low OG beers. Notty was much more active and messy for me. But I'm not a big fan of Notty.
Glad you're enjoying retirement. I'm paying attention and hoping I can make it 2 more years before I pull the trigger.

Wow. 12 days and still 2" of krausen is something else.

Mine has finally calmed down, but I'm glad I have the fermenter in the basement shower stall. I thought it calmed down and forgot to check. The airlock plugged and enough pressure built up to blow the lid partly off and spew krausen on the shower stall wall.
