stir wort after adding yeast

should you stir wort after adding dry yeast or just sprinkle on top? does it make a difference?

Like lots of things brewing, there's differing opinions. I doubt it makes a difference but many dry yeast packets have directions that say to sprinkle it on top. I've done both and can't say I notice any difference. It is a good idea to shake the fermenter a bit before adding yeast to oxygenate the wort but after adding yeast and fermentation starts, that's no longer a good idea and it's best not to stir or aerate the wort.
