RCE - This is gonna be fun!

Steve, aka k9dude, wanted in after the gate was closed, and since I'd fallen on my sword due to an uneven number of signers-up, we decided to hook up and get rolling on this thing. We've exchanged a few PMs, and we've settled on a slight deviation of a blonde ale. It's not completely to style, but I'm betting it's gonna be a damfine beer!
We got the malt bill and hops bill/schedule nailed down, and Steve is doing some research on yeast. Then it's just a matter of brewing this and seeing what the great Ninkasi blesses us with.
Thanks for being a great Recipe Collaboration Exchange partner, k9dude! Ol' Yeller Blonde Ale has great potential! Unless it gives us rabies....

Glad to see you two got in on it. I'm working with Kealia on an ipa and enjoying it a lot. We are still working on the hop schedule but everything else is there. Thanks again Dave for putting this together and pairing me with Ron, he's great partner to have been pick to do my first RCE with.

This is awesome as I always enjoy working with someone else.
rickbray66 and I are going to try the Deep Ellum IPA from his area. I found recipes on HBT and sent the brewmaster an email and though he said they don't give out the recipe, he said it was VERY close (I guess the caps meant VERY
).
I hope to get to this in about 4 weeks then he and I will swap beers and hopefully have the actual beer to match it up to as well. It looks right up my alley and Rick loves IPA's too so it's a perfect pairing.
Thanks again for doing this Dave.

Yeah, I've enjoyed trading emails with Steve (bucknut) as well. We decided on an IPA and I'm going to spend some time learning about water chemistry on this brew. We've got the grain bill locked down now it's just a possible tweak to the hop schedule as he noted. We're playing around with FWH + a hop stand + dry hopping.
Should be a winner and I'm learning a bit about him in the process which is always great.

FWH is a pretty neat technique. I use it in my Crown Top Pale Ale, and I think it really makes a difference (although, I've never done it any other way, so I have no basis for any kind of comparison). Anyway, I like what it brings to a brew, and while I wouldn't do it with every recipe, I think it's a good technique to know, and a good one for things like Pale Ales, IPAs, and other hop-forward beers.
I'm glad you're enjoying this edition of the RCE. If I'm remembered for nothing else, having this particular inspiration gives me great satisfaction.

Indeed!!! I'm getting anxious to brew up the "Deep Ellum IPA" recipe. Beer-lord sent me an exported Beersmith recipe today and I've been working on it tonight, tweaking it a bit to coincide with my equipment profile. I'll get to try FWH for the first time as well, not to mention a few hops that I've yet to experience. I'm pretty keyed-up!!

I'm getting real excited about this RCE. Manowarfan and I are working on a unique spin on something that I hope works out well and turns into a seasonal staple.

I really encourage everyone to start threads about their RCE brews once they've been tasted. It may encourage others to join future ones, and it's always nice to read about new beer!

I plan on starting one once we've figured out our recipe, and of course share notes and pics!

This is the second RCE that Rayyankee have been paired together on. The first one was his first attempt at a partial mash, which he succeeded at. Now he's doing AG BIAB. We are going to do a Christmas/winter spiced ale. We are real close to nailing down the recipe. I think it's going to be perfect timing too, as we are both planning on brewing early to mid October, so it should be ready mid December.
