Ever screw up at work?

Post by BeerRust »

It's been a very stressful week at work. And I screwed up. I did not cost the company any money, or steal anything like that. Just did follow a procedure that I should have. I got the you could have been terminated speech. Hope that I can recover and regain trust again, without losing my job.

Shrug it off and press on with pride. I've made that mistake once or twice. I make it all the time now.... hard to get fired when I'm retired.... LOL

Been there! Like everyone else said, shrug it off. We make mistakes, it's learning from them that makes us better people!

Which time? I was sort of informally accused of mutiny by the captain once. Does that count? And I was highly rated as a sailor.
Look at it this way: it will just make you look "improved" when you follow procedure. :)

It hurts now, but don't let it bring you down. Your value to the company should be assessed by your overall performance and your consistency in doing your job.

I've only had a couple of screw ups that were more than little issues at work but luckily the people I work for usually were more interested in how I handled the situations after the fact.

Little screw ups happen all the time no matter how you try to minimize them.

Just take home the lesson; learn from your mistake. My best performers in sales make mistakes, but never the same one twice. My lowest performers are the ones who don't make mistakes, or make the same error repeatedly.
