I'm currently on vacation in Surfside Beach S.C.
I found a very good restaurant in Myrtle Beach that brews their own beer.
I tried their Brown Ale first. Very malty and quite tasty.
I was trying to decide between their Seasonal or IPA next and asked the waitress what type of hops they
used in the IPA. First thing I got was a shoulder shrug and "I don't know", then "No, wait, let me guess"!
I kinda chuckled, not wanting to put her on the spot and make her feel bad.
So, I ordered the Seasonal which was a Peach Sour, excellent to my unrefined palate.
I've got a freezer full of peaches and I want this to be one of my very near future brews.
Before I ordered the IPA she stopped by the table and told me they used Briess hops in the IPA!
I told her thank you, because she at least went to the trouble to ask.
My question is does Briess do hops? I can't find any reference to them soliciting hops online.
Also, if you were brewing and highlighting your own beer on premises, wouldn't you educate your servers
in the basics?
BTW, the IPA was more bitter than I prefer but had a great Citra nose!
Briess hops?

Re: Briess hops?
I am not aware of them selling hops. My guess would be she asked "whats the name of that stuffs you put in the beer," got the reply of "grains," then asked "I know THAT but who makes it?"
I've found that there is a huge knowledge gap between those who work at restaurants that brew beer vs breweries that serve food. Most of the time I just ask if the brewer or an assistant is available and if s/he isnt inside a brite tank scrubbing it down or over a boiling vat of water they are usually more than happy to stop by.

Re: Briess hops?
Thought about that too Yooper.
I'm one that doesn't like to bother people while they are doing their jobs.
I felt that if someone was informed enough to ask that question, or others, then they
would have made a point to walk out and have a discussion, if they were there at that time.
It all worked out well!
It caused me to try something that piqued my curiosity and got to plan a brew outside my
comfort zone!
