Words from the Beer Nong…Making Rot a Good thing.
I’ve been asked to add input to the Beer Borg site. I’m pretty happy to be doing that. This will be an introduction. I started brewing with Mr. Beer back in 2007. The wife insisted I get a hobby as she was tired of me running around looking for something to do. My original thinking was: “A Mr. Beer Kit? What the heck is that?” Long story short.. I got the kit. I figured what the heck, even if it’s a bust, it wasn’t costing that much. Silly me. After the first batch of Beer, I was hooked. I was […]

BrewDemon Coming This Month!
Well, according to BrewDemon’s website and FaceBook page “It’s time to release the Demon”! Yes that’s right they are actually “committing” to an actual time that they will be releasing product for people to purchase. Although we have all heard this story before. First it was “Coming this Summer”, that came and went! Then was “Coming Soon”, not soon enough, obviously! Then “Coming this Fall and now “Coming this Month” which is technically still fall! The point is that this might be just another missed deadline judging from what we have seen so far, however it’s not all BrewDemon’s fault! […]

Beer Tasting – A quick guide!
For a lot of new homebrewers making their own beer is really the first time that they have ever really thought about the actual taste of beer. When I started I had very little idea where the different flavors were coming from. What is a hoppy taste? What is a malty taste? Why do some beer have the flavor and smell of pine needles while others were fruity, flowery or citrusy tasting? It really was an eye opener to me when I discovered that different hops, malts and yeasts could impact the flavor of a beer so much and that […]

Why Mr Beer?
It’s kind of funny to hear the different responses you get when you mention Mr. Beer! Many old-school home brewers tend to have a less then favorable view on the “novelty” beer kit. I’ve heard things like “You can’t brew real beer with that.” and “It’s a waste of time and effort when you only get 2 gallons of beer…”. But there are others that look at these simple beer making kits as a starting point or gateway into an obsession , umm, eer a hobby, yeah hobby, that’s it!
