Ancient Jim Beam

155 month aged Jim Beam, then bought in 1970. Should I drink it or save another 48 years? From what I can see on E-bay not much difference in price if full or un-0pened. I wanted to open that when I was a teenager but didn’t dare, now I own it and can do what I want with it, well up to SWMBO discretion of course.

I guess that depends on if you like whiskey... I'd eBay it because I don't like the hard stuff, but if you do, how can you pass up this very unique opportunity?

If you are absolutely sure that it has been sealed from any outside air since 1970, I would give it a drink while reminiscing through some old photos of your dad. If air has had any possibility of gaining access to the liquor over the past 48 years, I would research prices and put it up for sale. I would label the income as "dad's gift for your new beer equipment". Whatever you choose to do will be the right decision. Both sound fun to me. Good luck and let us know what comes of it.

No my parents bought it. I was only 13 years old in 1970.

Actually My Dad died in 1989, But my Mother passed a 1 1/2 ago and we are just getting around to cleaning the house out so we can sell it. The house is loaded with stuff.

Found another Jim Beam bottle today but this one is empty. We had a auction company come in today for a quick go though and we are trying to go though everything to find the stuff we want to keep before the sale. My parents lived there for close to 70 years and were in the antique and second Hand sales for years. So there is a basement, main house, attic, garage and another attic and barn full of everything imaginable to go though.

I'd sit back with my loved ones and sip a toast to mom and dad. I'd drink it but I drink alot of the hard stuff, Beam was my favorite for many years.

My wife's aunt, before her move to Florida, gave us a collection of liquor she had .
It had a bottle of Jim Beam in it that was purchased in the early 70's in a collector
bottle that had a deer or moose on it... in fact it had a paper state seal on!

Anyway, I researched and learned that the whiskey gets no better or no worse once it's in
the bottle...in the barrel is different, it will change then.
In fact if I remember right, the bottle was more valuable without the whiskey.
I drank it, never was a big Beam fan but I found it very smooth, not like I remember Beam at all,
all that to say...
