Electric Brewing
The all in one electric biab systems seem hard to beat. I’ve got the new Zymatic on order but I’ve been using the Mash and Boil and really like it.
If I we were to buy a brand new system I’d go with the Grainfather. I don’t like that it comes with a counter flow chiller I prefer an immersion chiller. I wish they sold it without the chiller. (Maybe they do?)
The Mash and Brew is a stripped down version of the Grainfather. I’m not sure what the Robobrew is like.
I like the connectivity of the Grainfather and the fact that it comes with circulating pumps. It has an app and community of users.
Just my 2 cents. There are a lot of great options.

Re: Electric Brewing
Thanks for the input Banjo. I've got some time to give it all serious thought but I am pretty sure I want to go the electric route.

Re: Electric Brewing
I mostly have used my mash & boil as an eBIAB system, however, it is only good for that for 3-4 gallon batches if you are doing it without sparging, as in real BIAB, and not "Americanized" BIAB.
The 5-6 gallon batches I've done recently have all been a thin mash with a sparge because full volume wouldn't fit.
And of course it doesn't have 3000+ watts of freaking power. But neither do any of my outlets and wiring one would cost more then I paid for the mash and boil. So there is that.

Just to be sure we're clear (and since I'm a huge arsehole) I'm not serious and am not spending $6k on E brewing but boy, it sure looks purty!

Ha Ha, I knew you were kidding, but is fun to dream big and look. I do think electric is the way to go for brewing no matter what part of the country you live. With all the new electronic controllers out there it make brewing nice.Beer-lord wrote:Just to be sure we're clear (and since I'm a huge arsehole) I'm not serious and am not spending $6k on E brewing but boy, it sure looks purty!

Re: Electric Brewing
So I've done tons of reading and have decided on the bit more expensive, High Gravity Brewing 240v, 15 gallon kit. I'm subbing the SS BrewTech kettle. I told with them yesterday and they are overwhelmingly helpful. It does appear they may raise the price by the end of the year (why is it when the economy gets better, everything has to go up?) so instead of waiting until the end of the year and while I had time this week of vacation, I just decided to go with it.
I had them add a whirlpool port since they only charge for the part and not the drilling. Might as well let them do everything so it's ready to go when it arrives.
I guess I'll need to sell some things because I can't store all the other gear and this so craigslist it will be but not until I know the new system is up and running well and put it thru it's paces. Not sure when it will arrive but I'm in no rush.
I'm grateful for all the info here.

Damn....talk about jumping right into the deep end. Good for you. Can't wait to see some pics when you get it.
Which system did you get? The one vessel BIAB system?

Re: Electric Brewing
Do you have a link to the system you got? I've already got the system I'm going to be using for the foreseeable future, but I'm curious (and know somebody who's planning to start brewing soon).
Re: Electric Brewing
Here's the base system: https://www.highgravitybrew.com/store/p ... 5p3987.htm
You can add or subtract what you want. They also have a 120v system for 5 gallon brewing.
Basic Brewing Radio has a code good for $75 more dollars off too! EBC75BB.
