I've had a bunch of recent unexpected home repair bills and an temporarily cash strapped.
Yes, the yearly hit did come right out of his account.
Totally understand the repair stuff. My not even 2 year old fridge had a bad fan and cost me $475 freaking dollars. Everything made now is shyte.
Whenever you can share your wealth, just drop it in the can and it'll be appreciated.
That sounds almost blissful.

I had a hailstorm that destroyed my roof and siding. It was covered by insurance (except for the $1000 deductible).

When they removed the siding, they discovered additional structural damage that was caused by water that had seeped into the wood over the years. Since this was not related to the hail, it wasn't covered by the insurance.

While they had the siding off, I decided to replace the windows, using a home equity loan. Everything was good until the bank realized I was using the loan for repairs. They denied the loan. So I had to pay out of pocket ( a little more than $6000).

So things called down a bit. Thank FSM.

Then one day I notice a water valve in the basement leaking. The kind of pipe I have is so bad, they not only no longer make it, they don't make replacement parts.

Ugh.

Then one day, I noticed water on the floor in the laundry room. At first, I thought it wad from the air conditioner. But no. It was leading from the hot water heater.

And my water pressure is higher than code allows. So I need an additional regulator. Total bill >1600.

At this point, if I got an unexpected bill for $475, I think I'd jump for joy that it wasn't higher.

Done! Not much but hope it helps. I'm expecting a big hosp. bill for repairs to a finger. Chainsaw tried to take one off and VA wants to fight the bill.

One thing that would be helpful and not to be prying, but if knew about how much to keep this site going. Maybe already said and missed it, but I like this place and feel like I know everybody personally and would hate to loose it for a few dollars. A rough number would help on what I can give to help again and keep it going. I don't believe Louie should spend any out of pocket money on it as he goes above and beyond to make it work. Just my thinking after beer time tonight. :clink:

Thanx Paul for the reminder. This is a great site and has been really helpful to me.
I just made a donation using PayPal without any problems.
Cheers [emoji482] to all that keep it going.

To be transparent, hosting costs, yearly domain renewal, firewall, spam and malware protection is about $500 per year. Some of the cost has been covered by the ads that I run on the site but income from that has been down considerably over the last 6 months. The current hosting bill which is always the biggest chunk was about $310 and because of donations so far you all have covered about $270 of it. I am extremely thankful for everyone's generosity and support and truly appreciate all your help.

I get the reference, but please don't talk about your noodly appendage on a family forum. Go see a doctor, they have pills for that now.
