Havent posted here in a while. Mostly because I went almost a year without brewing.
Brewed a Czech Pilsner first of January and at least one a week since.
A couple of Pale ales, a few saisons (my personal favorite) ALL GREAT beers
Seems like they are all better than what I was making before I took the almost year long break
But Ive got a problem with my most recent. (sorta)
A pale ale, similar to Sierra Nevada PA
But with Mangrove Jacks M12 yeast.
First time Ive used it and was expecting a quick start and quick fermentation
I almost always see action within 12 hours of pitching almost any yeast (ALMOST)
But this one has been almost 20 hours and NOTHING.
Isnt this unusual for this particular yeast?

I have a S/N PA clone am drinking on now but used 05 yeast and never tried that yeast you posted, so can't help . Lot of others here have and will answer. I am just happy you are still back into brewing.

Re: Mangrove Jacks KVEIK M12
Welcome back. It sounds like there are at least 3 of us with a SNPA 'clone' right now - me, too!
Sorry, can't help you with the yeast, though.

Re: Mangrove Jacks KVEIK M12
What temperature are you fermenting at? I've not used that yeast but have used 4 different types of Kveik yeast and all were fermenting within an hour or two at the most when fermenting at 85-95 degrees.dbrowning wrote: ↑Tue Mar 22, 2022 2:34 pm Havent posted here in a while. I know folks who wanted an uber clean beer and fermenting at 75 and it took up to 24 hours. In my opinion, fermenting at below 75 is not worth using Kveik style yeasts.
And, I've learned that these yeasts require a good amount of yeast nutrient and aeration. Maybe add a teaspoon of yeast nutrient and see what happens.

Added plenty of nutrient and aeration. Started at 72 , intend to increase to around 80 or so.
Re: Mangrove Jacks KVEIK M12
Finally took off. Just past 24 hours.
Maybe wort was a lot cooler than I thought?

Re: Mangrove Jacks KVEIK M12
Likely but dry kveik is a tad slower to start than liquid but some versions of that yeast are almost finished fermenting at 24 hours.
Let me know what you think of it when completed.
